RideFree

RideFree is a personal brand experiment born from mountain biking, mental health, and a desire to explore how design can move across sport, culture, and mindset — not just products.

The Brief

RideFree wasn’t built in response to a client brief — it started as a personal gap I wanted to explore. Mountain biking has always been a mental reset for me. It’s where noise drops away, focus sharpens, and everything simplifies down to movement and flow.

I wanted to create a brand rooted in that feeling — something that felt progressive, performance-driven, and authentic to action sports — without being locked into a single discipline. The challenge was to design a brand that could live comfortably in mountain biking, but also translate across other sport and lifestyle spaces without losing its edge or intent.

The Solution

I approached RideFree like any serious brand build — starting with form, structure, and attitude. The identity is intentionally square and geometric, built from rigid angles and strong lines to create a sense of control, momentum, and forward motion. There’s very little softness here by design — it’s meant to feel precise, engineered, and purposeful.

Typography plays a big role in setting the tone. Orbitron was chosen for its futuristic, almost mechanical feel — reinforcing the idea of speed, progression, and modern performance culture. The overall system leans into a stripped-back, no-nonsense aesthetic that mirrors how riding feels when everything clicks: focused, quiet, and powerful.

This wasn’t about trends — it was about creating a visual language that feels timeless within action sports, while still pushing slightly forward.

The Outcome

RideFree is still evolving — and that’s part of the point. As a living project, it’s become a creative testing ground for ideas around branding, apparel, and digital presence, without external constraints. The identity has translated naturally into clothing, where the bold geometry and minimal palette feel confident and wearable, and into a website that supports the brand’s attitude without overcomplication.

Beyond visuals, RideFree has reinforced something I strongly believe in — the best brands come from clarity of purpose. When the why is real, the design decisions become simpler, stronger, and more connected. This project continues to inform how I approach client work, particularly in sport, lifestyle, and performance-driven brands.
