Outdoorsy Crew

A grounded, nature-led brand identity for a support service that puts connection, confidence and the outdoors at the centre of everything they do.

The Brief

Outdoorsy Crew operate in a space that doesn’t fit neatly into a box.

They’re a support service — but not clinical.
They work with participants — but don’t want to feel institutional.
They’re professional — but deeply human, relaxed and outdoors-first.

When they came to me, they needed a brand that could hold all of that at once. Something that felt trustworthy and credible for families, carers and referrers — while still reflecting the freedom, movement and connection that happens when people get outside together.

Most importantly, they wanted a brand that didn’t feel like “disability services branding”, yet still communicated care, safety and inclusion.

The Solution

The strategy was to let nature lead — not as decoration, but as meaning.

I grounded the identity in four elemental themes that mirror the experiences Outdoorsy Crew create every day:
Sun (energy and optimism), Ocean (calm and flow), Forest (growth and grounding), and Fire (community and shared stories).

The logo was designed as a circular emblem — a symbol of wholeness, cycles and support. Within it, each element is represented through organic, flowing forms that come together around a central fire. The mark can work as a badge, stamp or icon — making it flexible enough for clothing, merch and digital use.

The visual language leans intentionally imperfect: textured lines, organic shapes and an earthy colour palette inspired by the Australian landscape. This keeps the brand feeling human, approachable and real — not overly polished or corporate.

Typography balances strength and friendliness, echoing trail signage and outdoor gear — clear, readable, and built for use across everything from social posts to participant resources.

The Outcome

The Outdoorsy Crew brand now feels exactly like the experience it represents.

Warm. Supportive. Empowering. Outdoorsy — without being forced.

The identity gives the team confidence when presenting to families and referrers, while also creating a sense of pride and belonging for participants. It scales easily across social media, printed resources and merchandise, helping the brand grow without losing its heart.

Most importantly, it communicates trust — while still leaving space for adventure, connection and fun.
